Fun pink lips for spring!

A great trend I'm seeing and loving right now is the neutral eye with the bold lip!! Neon even!! I know that Bobbi Brown has a 'nude and neon' collection going right now, and I've seen the bright pink and orange lips other places as well!! Love this look!

For my eyes, I used MAC painterly paint pot, vanilla pigment to highlight my brow bone and inner corner, blanc type all over my lid, Bobbi Brown grey in crease, and MAC's vex in the crease as well. I did a fairly thick but not winged out eyeliner look using MAC's blacktrack fluidline, and some MUFE smokey lash for mascara.

For my cheeks I used Azalea Blossom from MAC, and Semi Precious Crystal Pink MSF for highlight.

For my lips, I used NYX dolly pink lip liner, MAC behave yourself lipstick, and style-packed lipglass on top.

Very fun look to try out, and paired with such a neutral eye you just can't go wrong! Be brave, try it out!! :-)

a purpley look ;-)

This is an eye look I did for work last week.... just a soft nice not-too-bright purple eye anyone could wear!

I used (all MAC unless otherwise stated) : painterly paint pot for a base, followed by creamy bisque (shroom can be used) for the inner corner of my eye and just below my brow. For the lid, I covered it with shale, then used smut to create the outer v. I used a clean brush to blend that outer v color up through my crease, and then went over the crease and outer v with some sketch.

I then used dark diversion paint pot for the top and lower lash lines, which is limited edition, but you can find any purple gel liner for this look as well.

I'm also wearing Lancome hypnose drama mascara.

It isn't too vibrant, it's more muted purple, which comes across as more of an everyday kind of look! I would probably pair this with a warmer cheek, maybe a peach or a bronze, as well as a more neutral toned lip, maybe even just some gloss. Enjoy! :-)

Great Cheap Mascara

On my endless mascara hunt, I have found a drugstore mascara that really impressed me! Because of the price, and because of the wonderful wear of the mascara itself! I'm talking about the Rimmel Extra Super Lash, which you can get for around $3 at the drugstore!

The brush for this mascara is tapered, meaning the bristles on the brush get shorter towards the end of the wand. I like this because it makes getting the inner corners of your lashes much easier. The bristles are just like any regular mascara wand, they're not rubber, but I still find this brush to separate my lashes easily.

The formula itself is neither more dry or more wet than usual, I find it just the right consistency. I don't find that it flakes on me, and it doesn't transfer to my eye lids, or just under my eyes either. The life of this mascara is pretty normal, about 2 and 1/2 to 3 months. If you're on a tight budget, or just wanting to try something new, I highly recommend this mascara! :-)

mascara "Day 7"

Alrighty, sorry for the short delay, work and a little bit of sickness got in the way of me being on here!! Well, I don't know if it was sickness or exhaustion, but either way!! But back to the mascara!! Alrighty, so "Day 7" things are going pretty good, but not fantastic. What I've been doing is really scraping the brush off back into the tube before I apply it to my lashes. And it really does help the clumping, but as for volume, not anything special!! It's really disappointing... another mascara to add to the "crap list"!!! I also don't like the fact that I have to curl my lashes with this mascara... I'm a lucky girl who never has to curl her lashes, but this stuff makes me do it or else my lashes look really floppy!! So there ya go, I'll update ya more later, but hopefully this has been somewhat helpful to someone...

the mascara drama continues...

So "Day 3" of the L'oreal Voluminous mascara!! I have noticed some clumping, which is a huge issue for me!! Sheesh if it's not one thing it's another with mascara!! I really like the way that it applies, but I feel that it is quite clumpy, and I had heard rumors that it was, and they are all true!! I did heard that if you really wipe the brush off before you apply it it will help, but that sounds so silly to me!! I want VOLUMIZED lashes, and why would I want to put less mascara on my lashes to do that? Oh well, I'll give it a shot!!
But, besides that, I really like that it doesn't flake!! I never have little black spots on my cheeks... so I guess it's a step in the right direction, right? I hope so! But I'm tellin' ya, I'm losing faith in drugstore mascara fast... it was going so well, what happened?? Oh well!!

today's tip

So I was using that same little piece of cardboard that I use to make my eyeshadow go where I want it to (holding it up to form a line from my eye's outter corner to my brow's outter corner), and I realized that you can use this same piece of cardboard to hold under your lower lashes when you put your mascara on!! I'm the worst at touching my mascara wand to my face when I'm applying!! So there ya go, and I'm guessing you could also use it to block your eyeshadow from getting dinged on your lids, but I haven't really tried that yet, I'll try tomorrow! :-)

Here ya go mother, your first beauty article to read!

Since my mother lives so far away and we can only talk really on the weekends and after 9 pm(because we don't have the same phone providers... curse you cell phones!) I've decided to let her in on all the silly things that I find out durring my day!! So first up.... mascara!!
I was so sad that the L'oreal Telescopic Explosion mascara didn't work out the way I wanted it to... it was great right when you put it on, but throughout the day I had little bitty flakes coming into my eyes and down onto my cheeks! And I just can't handle little black specks on my face... too weird!! So here I am on "Day 1" with this new mascara, L'oreal Voluminous. My initial reaction... I like it!! It reminds me of my oh-so-loved Max Factor 2000 Calorie, which is now no more!! The formula seems thick enough for my liking... so first impression, good!! But I did notice that it does tend to get a little clumpy on the 2nd coat application... but it wasn't too much and it wasn't too difficult to fix. So there ya go, hopefully things will only go up from here!!
