here's a little tip

So my makeup tip for the day.... if there is a foundation that isn't working for you, make sure and try different application methods before you throw it out. For example, I have a great tinted moisturizer from Laura Mercier. I have the oil-free version. I liked it, then I didn't like it, then I tried it with a sponge, then I tried it with my hands, and I finally figured out what was going on. I was using too much product!! I mean, I wasn't using a TON of product, but I used a very small amount today, and my face looks better than ever!! So there ya go, don't throw things out in a hurry, try out different things!! :-)

Makeup tips, oh boy!

Alrighty, so today's makeup tip won't be new to my mother, since I already told her about it!! But, it's been making me happy so I thought I'd share it with who knows who!! So I am always conflicted when it comes to my eyeshadow. I LOVE bright, bold eyeshadow, but it is really out of place where I work, and sometimes I think it makes me look more like a teenager. Then when I wear neutral eyeshadows I feel like I am SOO boring!!
So to balance out the boring and the crazy, I figured out what works for me! I do a normal neutral eye, with a lighter color on the lid and a deeper brown in the crease. Then I line my upper line with black liquid eyeliner and only wing it out a little bit to give my eyes a little more shape, because my eyes naturally draw down at the ends. Then I take any color of eyeshadow that I want (it's been purple usually lately), and put that in a thin line under my lower lashes, and ALSO a thin line just above the black liner on top! It really adds some pop to my eyes, but it's not too overwhelming!! So there ya go, if you need some balance in your life like me....

today's tip

So I was using that same little piece of cardboard that I use to make my eyeshadow go where I want it to (holding it up to form a line from my eye's outter corner to my brow's outter corner), and I realized that you can use this same piece of cardboard to hold under your lower lashes when you put your mascara on!! I'm the worst at touching my mascara wand to my face when I'm applying!! So there ya go, and I'm guessing you could also use it to block your eyeshadow from getting dinged on your lids, but I haven't really tried that yet, I'll try tomorrow! :-)

Alrighty, my tip for the day

So I figured out something the other day that really helps me do my eye makeup. If you take the little cardboard backing off of any item(such as a mascara or liner or anything that comes on a little rectangular plastic card), you can use it to shape your eyeshadow! Just hold it up forming a line between your lower lash line and the outter edge of your eyebrow and you won't get eyeshadow anywhere you don't want it!! I thought it was pretty cool!!
